POSITION OVERVIEW:

Pitcher & Doyle is looking for a highly-motivated individual to join their Underwriting team! This role will support Underwriting team in their ability to develop profitable, long-term accounts and broker relationships for a National Dealership program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Issue, endorse, renew, or cancel policies following underwriting policies/procedures, applicable guide- lines, regulations subject to individual authority level in accordance with established service standards
  • Work within established authority limits, structured parameters and defined guidelines in compliance with the provided Underwriting Authority
  • Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously
  • Enter and maintain files into our underwriting data- base (Applied/EPIC) to support Underwriting functions
  • Review and analyze loss information and calculate loss ratios
  • While working in a team environment, provide exceptional service to your assigned brokers and their portfolio
  • Support financial procedures by entering in all billing transactions into Applied/EPIC system
  • Work hand in hand with the underwriting staff to develop and enhance your understanding of the overall product and value proposition
  • Provide support for special projects and any other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University or College degree
  • CIP designation or working towards completion
  • Minimum 2 years of underwriting or related Insurance experience, Commercial lines is an asset
  • Technical knowledge and experience working in property/casualty and automobile (Garage) lines of business
  • Knowledge of Commercial underwriting principles, concepts and methodologies
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills that include Microsoft Office
  • Prior Experience with Applied/EPIC is a valuable asset
  • Superior customer service skills and business acumen
