Full-Time Underwriter – Construction
Job Description
Summary
Reporting to the Underwriting Director, the Underwriter’s main duties will be to analyze construction risks in Ontario and will be responsible for underwriting the needs while ensuring that the quality of the risks underwritten is adequate to achieve the maximum profitability. Main responsibilities
- Underwrite and handle renewals within the guidelines of the various programs and contracts
- Develop, underwrite and handle new business within the guidelines of the various programs and contracts or as a wholesaler
- Develop business relationships with existing and new brokers through marketing visits
- Act as a liaison between brokers and insurers to negotiate and determine insurance terms
- Represent the company at industry events as required
Profile
- Minimum of 5 years underwriting experience
- Advanced level of English, French an asset
- Have a CIP designation or an insurance diploma, or be in the process of obtaining one (asset)
- Comfortable with various software and technological tools
- Negotiation skills
- Demonstrate autonomy and resourcefulness
- Have a good sense of responsibility and priorities
- Good analytical skills and ability to make decisions under pressure
- Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to go the extra mile
