ENCON is currently recruiting for Senior Underwriter.  The successful candidate will be a service-oriented individual, with a positive attitude, strong marketing and presentation skills and a desire to succeed.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews and analyzes major submissions without assistance
• Identifies and obtains additional information required for proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments
• Assesses exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines
• Negotiate terms and conditions with registered insurance brokers
• Binds coverage and initiates issuance of documents
• Develops and maintains an awareness of claims and exposures
• Maintain an awareness of market conditions, profitability, initiatives and competition
• Provides risk management advise to insureds/clients
• Develops case studies and claims examples for presentation at risk management workshops
• Prepares and presents product knowledge seminars internally and to insurance brokers, including marketing ENCON products and services to insurance brokers
• Writes loss control bulletins and prepares Powerpoint presentations on claims examples to present to clients
• Provides risk management presentations to individual insureds offices
• Provides risk assessment of an insured’s operations and consulting advice
• Marketing trips/broker visits within Canada

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in business administration, commerce, engineering, construction, law or related field
• 10+ years related work experience in fields such as business, commercial insurance broking, risk management, construction, engineering, legal  or loss prevention
• Expert knowledge of insurance industry
• Insurance related professional designation is an asset
• Superior ability to communication verbally and written to internal and external clients
• Ability to solve complex issues
• Outstanding customer service and negotiation skills
• Strong computer skills in Word,  Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Effective analytical abilities along with strong multitasking and organizational skills
• Excellent marketing skills
• Excellent presentation skills for small or large groups
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment
• Fluently bilingual is asset (written and verbal)
• Ability to travel within Canada
