The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about commercial underwriting? In this role you will bring experience and a strong understanding of commercial and residential real estate risks in developing a profitable book of commercial property risks.

• Work with major national insurers specializing in BC property
• Responsible for underwriting a portfolio of commercial property risks across the province
• Responsible for risk selection and rating within the bounds of the Underwriting Authority given to you
• Travel frequently to various branch offices across the province of BC and potentially Alberta.

Here’s what you bring:

• Minimum 10 years insurance experience and minimum 5 years with commercial lines underwriting
• Strong knowledge of the BC Property insurance marketplace
• Knowledge & experience in rating and mapping flood and earthquake exposures
• Excellent and effective communication skills, you are a key contributor to the team’s success
• Strong decision making skills and ability to work effectively and independently
• A natural ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion are important qualities
• Strong work ethic without sacrificing your ability to have fun on the job
• Ideally working towards CAIB or CIP designition
