Full-Time Production Underwriter
Job Description
This is a unique opportunity to help maintain and grow one of the largest territories for AFM.
Responsibilities:
Based in AFM’s Vaughan, Ontario office the successful candidate will be responsible for both new business production and renewal retention. Effectively balancing both customer and Company needs they will underwrite and service a growing, diverse book of business. Key activities include risk selection as well as negotiating coverage and pricing on new and renewable business in keeping with designated underwriting authorities and Company guidelines and objectives. Travelling regularly they will market AFM’s products and services through a select network of brokers with whom long term relationships are cultivated and maintained. This position coordinates Account Team resources in order to provide excellent and responsive service that consistently delivers value to AFM’s broker and customer relationships.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. A degree in business or engineering and/or FCIP is desirable.
Minimum 5 years industry experience (broker/insurance company) including a minimum of 3 years as a Property Underwriter in the middle market in Canada responsible for varying occupancies and account sizes.
Strong aptitude for risk identification and assessment, property insurance coverage, forms, financial statements and Microsoft business computer applications.
Demonstrated excellent skills in oral and written communication, time management, analysis, decision making, problem solving, sales/negotiation/presentation and leadership as well as the ability to establish and maintain a network of property producers and industry contacts. The successful candidate will thrive working independently as well as a member of an Account Team and will deliver timely results in keeping with their business goal’s and objectives.
