Fantastic Opportunity: Manager, Underwriting Dept.

Our Client is looking for a Manager in underwriting to join their Customer Commitment team in the Program Delivery division.
The Role
You will lead a team of underwriters, underwriter specialist, account specialists and team leaders providing efficient and effective underwriting for the Risk Management Program, Production Insurance and other programs to their customer base throughout the province. You will be responsible for the analysis and risk assessment services according to complex program criteria and policies and guidelines established by the participating levels of government. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Customer Commitment and will provide overall direction to underwriting staff. In this role you will:
Develop processes to measure performance compared to the desired benchmarks according to the corporate vision, ensure these are achieved
Ensure continuous improvement in underwriting and risk assessment of program applications
Lead the investigation, adjustment and review of the underwriting processes for the programs offered
Provide expert advice and program leadership by maintaining current awareness of emerging issues, trends and developments in the agriculture and financial industries
Embed quality control in all processes and monitor the results to provide feedback to the team to facilitate better adherence to standards
Ensure effective planning and allocation of human, financial, technical and physical resources to achieve planned objectives
Provide leadership and technical direction to the underwriting team
Acquire, develop and manage talent in line with to corporate human resources policies and core qualities
Ensure Program Delivery procedures meet federal and provincial program agreements
Monitor the department budget; co-ordinate with the Senior Manager, Customer Commitment; and prepare required reports
Ensure program integrity by ensuring that program standards are monitored and enforced
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in economics, finance, commerce, agriculture or a related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years’ experience in underwriting
Proven experience in coaching, mentoring or leading others
Experience with operations supervision, including resource management, work scheduling and goal setting, responsibilities
Solid experience in managing budgets
Proven track record in a high-volume client environment with strong focus on customer service
Underwriting experience in a financial, insurance, or government sector is an asset
Agricultural experience is an asset
