Lloyd’s Team Leader and Senior Underwriter


Megson FitzPatrick is looking for an ambitious, engaging experienced Lloyd’s Senior Underwriter to join our team and lead our Lloyds’ department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the growth, profitability and management of the Victoria Lloyds portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:


  • Leading, managing, coaching, and motivating a team of Lloyds underwriters and claims adjusters;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our London broker and individual syndicates;
  • Binder/Contract management (contract renewals, endorsements, compliance);
  • Lead, coordinate and respond to annual coverholder audits;
  • Participate in annual brokerage planning;
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) to ensure business objectives are met for each syndicate;
  • Overall responsibility with respect to Lloyd’s compliance protocol;
  • Underwrite individual accounts as necessary;
  • Support Lloyds underwriters and claims adjusters as needed;
  • Chair weekly Lloyds meetings;
  • Attend and participate in leadership meetings;
  • Proactively grow the Lloyd’s department through strategy development and implementation;
  • Product development;
  • Participate in Lloyd’s business trip as necessary;
  • Liaise with the Lloyd’s department at the Rogers Group of Companies;
  • Liaise with marketing department and producers.


Location and Status:


Victoria, BC

Permanent full-time employment (35 hrs/week)


 CIP, FCIP, CRM or equivalent designation required;

  • A diploma/degree in business or other equivalent education is considered an asset;
  • 7+ years commercial insurance experience required;
  • 5 years management/leadership experience required;
  • Ability to travel required;
  • Strong commercial underwriting technical skills required;
  • Experience/knowledge of the Lloyd marketplace considered a requirement;
  • Claims and Personal Insurance experience considered an asset;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, challenging work environment;
  • Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Efficient and always looking to improve processes and procedures;
  • Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work outside of regular office hours, when needed.
