Legal Administrative Assistant – 12 month Contract

Our client, a global leader in legal expense insurance in Canada operates in 19 countries. They offer an innovative and comprehensive range of legal expense products and services through brokers, underwriting agents, and insurers across Canada.

This is an opportunity to work with the ATE (After The Event) Team, and if you’re looking to join a friendly, passionate team with limitless potential, we’d love to meet you!  We are looking for someone who is familiar with standard Canadian litigation practice, excels in administrative duties, is comfortable with finance and receivables and gets things done!  To succeed in this role, you will have excellent time management skills, take incredible pride in your attention to detail, and you will collaborate with internal teams to produce client deliverables on deadlines.

Please note due to COVID-19  staff members are temporarily working remotely until it is safe to return to the office.

Responsibilities:

Update and issue insurance policies and client contracts
Manage workflow lists, ensuring deliverables are completed, ensuring accountability from beginning to end, ensuring deadlines and workflows are being met
Work collaboratively and dynamically within a small team
Frequent communication with finance department resolving premium discrepancies, incorrect payment allocations and commission amounts.
Bridging contact between claims and firms to ensure excellent client services is achieved and maintained.
Ability to assess work and make decisions regarding resources and prioritizations of requests
Provide management with weekly updates on progress of projects and provide workflow recommendations where needed.
Regular data entry into internal database tools such as AS400, Microsoft Office, Excel.
Skills:

Proficient in Gmail, MS Office (ability to run/create functions/pivot tables/charts in Excel an asset)
Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and general litigation procedures
Ability to process tasks frequently on a consistent and accurate basis.
Great attention to detail with focus on quality and accuracy
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and cope with pressure
Strong organization, planning and teamwork skills
Must be proactive
Strong and effective oral and written communications skills (email, spoken, reports)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment
