PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Learning and Development Specialist conducts training needs analysis, designs, implements, and manages corporate training and development programs for employees at all levels. The Learning and Development Specialist fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional growth and is responsible for the building and maintenance of the Company’s Leadership Development Program. By identifying training needs, the Learning and Development Specialist will create engaging learning materials and implement effective strategies to enhance employee performance and Company success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Conduct training needs analysis to identify skill gaps and learning needs or opportunities within the Company.
  • Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to understand corporate training needs.
  • Research, develop, and update corporate wide training materials, courses, and programs for delivery to employees and People Leaders.
  • Build and maintain the Company’s Leadership Development Program.
  • Utilize instructional design and adult learning principles to create engaging, interactive, and effective learning experiences.
  • Research and provide solutions for learning and development needs by partnering with providers to obtain course/program information.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee onboarding and training for employees at all levels, including leadership development.
  • Prepare communication materials and updates to inform employees of learning and development opportunities and initiatives.
  • Coordinate appropriate third-party trainers where necessary and approved. Review consultant proposals, including reviewing course materials, and recommend vendors to deliver training.
  • Manage registration of course participants, coordinate course logistics, prepare participant lists, confirm attendance.
  • Maintain records of learning programs and training, including participant attendance, completion of courses and programs, provide reports and analysis on learning metrics.
  • Manage and maintain the Learning Management System to implement, track and evaluate training.
  • Provide advice and consultation on career and succession planning, as well as employee and leadership development.
  • Review, evaluate and update learning related policies, processes, and tools.
  • Provide guidance on organizational development strategies and collaborate with stakeholders to implement initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Respond to general inquiries by employees and People Leaders relating to learning and development.

 

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Certificate or courses in Adult Continuing Education is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in Human Resources related Learning & Development function.
  • Experience conducting training needs analysis.
  • Experience researching, developing, and updating training materials, courses, and programs for delivery to employees at all levels.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles to create engaging, interactive, and effective learning experiences.
  • Experience reviewing consultant proposals, including reviewing course materials, and recommending vendors to deliver training.
  • Knowledge of and experience providing reports and analysis on learning metrics.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System to implement, track and evaluate training.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective working relationships.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, proof is required.
  • Willing to undergo a background check.
