Full-Time Jr. Accountant

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Junior Accountant is responsible for performing the day to day accounting and administrative functions in support of the Finance department.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts using computerized and manual systems.
  2. Prepare and process cheque runs.
  3. Prepare bank reconciliations.
  4. Review aged receivables, purge, distribute to personnel and discuss with manager.
  5. Prepare collection items for submission to collection agencies and maintain follow-up on status
  6. Prepare monthly clients statements.
  7. Assist the Analyst with various business reports.
  8. Accurately complete month end and relevant paper work within specific time frame.
  9. Provide back-up support for the accounts payable, banking and other functions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Currently pursuing Diploma/degree in Accounting or finance
  2. Proficient in MS Office software with advanced knowledge of Excel
  3. Excellent analytical, organizational skills and attention to detail
  4. Demonstrates a good understanding of effective communication and listening skills
  5. Excellent time management, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  6. Demonstrates a willingness to learn and try new techniques, tools and technology
  7. Demonstrates motivation, enthusiasm and treats other team members as equals
  8. Able to take direction, as well as offer ideas and suggestions
  9. Demonstrates a high level of commitment to the organization
  10. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
