Insurance Property Adjuster

 GENERAL SUMMARY

A prominent insurance brokerage in GTA that continue to grow is looking for an experienced Property & Casualty Insurance Adjuster to join our team. If you have strong organizational skills, able to multitask and knowledgeable on the insurance markets, you can be part of our great team known for great customer service and retention!

Aside from providing exceptional claims service to our customers, this role will focus on providing the efficient and prompt investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of moderate to complex property claims in accordance with Company guidelines and best practices.

 

Competencies required to succeed

o Excellent knowledge of property claims adjusting.

o Strong business and report writing skills.

o Significant ability to use technology, particularly claims systems and Xactimate, effectively and efficiently

o A focus on customer service, with both insured and examiners

o Ability to manage abeyances, pending files, and influxes due to major weather events

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for the investigation and adjusting of property claims, the successful candidate provides ClaimsPro and Client standard quality service and facilitates prompt and equitable settlement of claims within the parameters of corporate policies. Specifically, this requires the adjuster to:

o Investigate, negotiate and settle claims

o Direct field investigations as required for exposure and within account guidelines parameters.

o Make initial contact as per account guidelines.

o Report to client as per account guidelines.

o Identify liability exposures, recommend reserves, recommend investigation required for exposure, prepare action plans, and negotiate settlements

o Provide high level of customer service to clients and the insured

 

 

Education, knowledge and experience required

o At least 3 years’ relevant experience in property claims adjusting

o Must be able to obtain a Probationary license in ON and a level 1 Adjuster’s license in other provinces as needed

o Ongoing commitment to education and learning

o Effective analytical skills, including identification of cause and effect dynamics

o Good investigative manner

o Able to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them

o Ability to interpret complex documents of a legal nature, perform and understand advanced numerical calculations including analysis of comparative information

Advanced communication skills including:

o Effective written skills including those of a technical nature

o Effective oral skills, including listening, interviewing, negotiating, must be able to flex style appropriate to audience.

o Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities in an effective manner.

o Proactive and positive approach to customer service ensuring that all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely manner.

o Strong interpersonal skills allowing you to effectively deal with conflict and difficult situations.

o Strong commitment to ongoing education and learning.
