Full-Time Exec Claims Examiner
Job Description
The Executive Claims Examiner-Liability contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the ongoing review of large and/or complex liability claims being handled in the Regions. The Executive Claims Examiner will provide ongoing input and direction to the Region that has direct handling of the file.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Interpret liability policy wordings, determine policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving.
• Provide ongoing, regular input and direction to the regions on large, complex liability files.
• Provide reserving and settlement authority on large files.
• Ensure that large, complex liability claims are being handled on a proactive, timely basis.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations, and pre-trial conferences where required.
• Review and evaluate incoming information/reports from adjusters, lawyers, medical providers and other experts.
• Provide recommendations to the regions on vendors, experts and service providers on large/complex losses.
• Provide ongoing technical advice and guidance to file handlers in the regions.
• Remain up-to-date with legislative changes, case law and trends in the insurance industry.
• Carry out periodic reviews of large liability files within the regions.
• Complete updated reporting to Reinsurers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 7 + years progressive insurance adjusting/examining experience.
• Chartered Insurance Professional Designation and a desire to continue relevant industry education (FCIP, etc…).
• Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Excellent investigative and analytical skills.
• Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment.
• Excellent knowledge of injury legislation & assessments in the various regions.
• Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy.
• Exceptional advanced negotiation skills.
• College/University degree preferred
