Primary Objectives:
The Cyber Underwriter will be part of a team dedicated to maintaining and advancing underwriting excellence at HSB Canada. As a Corporate Underwriting team member, the Cyber Underwriter will contribute to growing a profitable portfolio of cyber and specialty insurance products and participate in challenging projects that focus on maintaining leadership in the specialty insurance products segment.

You will excel in this role with your customer-centric, analytical, inventive and agile approach as you support treaty and transactional business development.

Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, this role is located at our Head Office in downtown Toronto and is ideal for an innovative thinker with a problem-solving mindset, who is eager to learn.

Job Responsibilities:
• Underwrite and price both portfolio and transactional based cyber programs products
• Identify growth opportunities and actively research trends and the competitive landscape in the Cyber and Specialty market
• Proactively monitor portfolio performance and accumulation risk
• Establish and update Underwriting Guidelines, Policy Forms and Training Materials
• Serve as a technical referral and underwriting resource to Treaty and Transactional Underwriters
• Structure tailor-made underwriting solutions for new and existing Clients
• Provide training for new Underwriters on Underwriting standards, Coverages and policy forms
• Contribute to special projects supporting New Product development or New Distribution Channel exploration

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance
• 6-8 years of relevant work experience in the Insurance Industry
• CIP designation or working towards designation is preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Self-motivated and entrepreneurial spirit
• Time management skills to prioritize workloads and multiple projects and meet time sensitive deadlines with high degree of accuracy
• Superior Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to achieve results by taking a proactive approach
• Ability to develop and foster relationships with key internal stakeholders
• Excellent research, detail orientation and creative problem-solving skills
• Strong team player, able to contribute in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
• A positive, professional attitude is essential for this role
• French language skills (written and spoken) are a plus
