The Role:

In collaboration with the CEO, the Controller will foster an entrepreneurial spirit while performing a range of functions with respect to strategic planning, operational support, full-cycle accounting, and financial reporting and analysis.  The role will focus on growing and sustaining Dufferin Mutual’s fiscal health, while playing a key role in advancing our strategic organizational objectives.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Identify, analyze, and recommend strategic, tactical, and operational opportunities to strengthen Dufferin Mutual’s business
  • Foster a strong financial controls environment through robust accounting, reporting, and information systems
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, sharing all material variances with respective department managers and the CEO
  • Deliver transactional support to the administration of investments in accordance with established company policies
  • Ensure appropriate use of funds through consistent allocation and accurate documentation, including subsidiary entities
  • Provide effective internal controls to maintain compliance with GAAP / IFRS 17 and applicable federal and provincial regulations for financial and tax reporting
  • Liaise with Dufferin’s auditing and actuarial partners to generate timely, accurate, and required reporting
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data collection tools in support of robust financial and risk analysis

Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years financial services industry experience (direct / indirect)
  • University / college degree or diploma – Accounting, Finance, or Business discipline
  • Familiarity and experience in online banking, payroll, and investment management platforms
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
