Full-Time Commercial Underwriting Specialist
Job Description
Our Commercial Underwriting team puts customers first. They are constantly looking for ways to help our broker partners serve their clients better. This means delivering genuine personal service and understanding the needs of our customers and their business.
Reporting to the Commercial Underwriter Centre of Excellence Manager, this role is primarily responsible for providing technical support as well as conducting audits and training for underwriters to ensure consistent application of Gore underwriting practices. The successful candidate will also be reviewing new business submissions, analyzing and identifying trends, providing pricing, profitability and coverage analysis to support product development and sales.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years property and casualty underwriting experience
- A university degree, college diploma required or equivalent experience
- CIP designation or actively pursuing it
- The ability to build and maintain productive business relationships through effective communication, both written and verbal, and strong leadership skills
- Proficient skill with computer applications including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- The ability to work well under pressure with minimum supervision
- The ability to multi-task between a variety of tasks and deadlines
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
