Full-Time Commercial Marketer (Edmonton)
Job Description
Our retained client is a sales organization that provides innovative insurance solutions for commercial customers—and they are growing! Our client is looking for a career minded individual to contribute to their ability to deliver exceptional service to their customers.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Licensed Level 2 Insurance Agent required
- Completion of C.I.P. or CAIB designation or equivalent
- 5-7 years’ experience with in an independent commercial insurance business environment
- 5 years’ experience within a team environment in a Sales or Customer Service role
- Ideally, experience with Agency Manager, Microsoft Office Suite or comparable computer systems
- To be successful in the field of insurance marketing requires an outgoing personality and a demeanor that instills trust and confidence.
- Math skills are essential to calculate premiums and decipher information provided by Sales Executive and underwriting.
- The ability to explain complex terms in common language is essential.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Sales Director, the Marketer responsibility is to maximize brokerage profits through securing the most competitive pricing that matches customer requirements. Your day will consist of: a) reviewing, analyzing, preparing customer submissions; b) negotiating with underwriting to secure Best in Class pricing for customers; c) communicating with your Sales Team.
Request for Marketing Support
- Ensure JSE and SSE have provided:
- completed Marketing Access Checklist with Application & appropriate support documents
- completed Marketing Strategy Form
- completed Marketing Sheet with selected target markets
- Review all data with Sales Executive(s).
- Create marketing expectations timeline.
Marketing Customer Submissions
- Prepare documentation from sources including submissions, customer narrative, schedules, loss runs, Carrier Profiles, IFTA reports.
- Analyze client coverages, exposures and loss experience and pre-underwrite risk to determine Best in Class Pricing.
- Submit official Submission document to underwriting. Track all submissions. Negotiate with underwriting to put the client in the best light possible to secure the most competitive pricing.
- Maintain effective communications of the marketing process with underwriting and the Sales Team.
- Using the standard form to prepare and present professional and marketing summaries for the Sales Team detailing coverage’s, limits and deductibles.
Additionally, you will contribute to our client’s success through:
- providing team leadership, mentorship, and account management;
- providing requested quotes and optional coverage to ensure completed insurance solutions
- Maintain professional relationships with underwriters, co-workers: provide exceptional customer service to all;
- keep abreast of trends and techniques, industry changes in the marketplace, insurance company stability; share new underwriting information with the Director of Marketing; use brokerage selling aids to maintain a competitive status for the brokerage within the industry.
- Skills and Specifications
- Keep abreast of our client’s market inventory and support the company objectives with market support as directed by the Sales Director.
- Be a self-starter with strong written & oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products & specialty programs.
- Demonstrable ability of compiling information/ preparing user friendly packages of information for specified audience, e.g. producer, client, prospect.
- Demonstrable strong negotiating and persuasion ability in working with and negotiating price and coverage with underwriters.
- Develop & maintain positive and respectful working relationships with all peers and external industry partners.
Team Support
- Be familiar with and follow company policies and procedures as established Marketing Submissions (Employee Handbook, Renewal Procedure, Claims Procedures, Collections and AR Procedures, etc.)
- Utilize all company checklists and procedures to ensure compliance with brokerage standards.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and company functions
