Commercial Lines Manager

Become an integral part of an energetic, positive Executive Management Team (EMT), providing wow right now moments in a rapidly expanding general insurance brokerage. This position requires that the applicant hold CAIB 4 or CIP designation and a minimum of five years’ experience in Commercial Lines sales, service or management.

We are currently seeking a sales professional that is comfortable selling to senior level executives and business owners, using a highly consultative sales approach. This individual will work closely with the Chief Sales Officer (CSO) regarding stretch goal setting, then monitor all behaviors to surpass those goals.

Reporting to the Senior EMT, the CL Manager is responsible for leading the CL Team, the successful candidate will be able to live our core values of Trust, Respect, Unparalleled clients service, Selling Proactively, and Teamwork. In addition to being responsible for the CL Team, this position is an integral part of upholding the Cornerstone Culture within the CL department and the organization as a whole. This position will work under the Sr. EMT to maintain the goal of a “0” A/R and “0” backlog.

As the leader of the Commercial Lines Team, the CL Manager is a leader that motivates, someone who is able to work with a full range of personalities. The ideal person will enjoy communicating, networking and maintaining relationships with fellow staff, clients and underwriters.

 

Compensation for this position is multi-pronged, including a percentage of department revenue and commission for this individuals proactive sales and renewal sales. Credentials, education, and experience will be considered when determining the employees starting compensation. Relocation assistance may be available.

A valid passport is required, travel within Canada and to the USA is expected.

Key skills & Functions:

  • Use a/o improve on established “Critical Indicator” (CI) tracking systems reporting to the Sr. EMT;
  • Maintains professionalism in an efficient, fast paced, team environment;
  • Able to learn and use established in-house and outside consultant training systems to develop sales; mastery in themselves as well as their team;
  • Believes in being accountable and in holding others accountable in a culture of positive intent;
  • Prioritize client retention, maintaining positive relationships with existing and potential clients;
  • Delivering continuous excellence in servicing an existing book;
  • Network with potential new clients & key players within the insurance industry;
  • Developing knowledge of clients operations and risk exposures;
  • Acting as the visible face of Cornerstone to the clients/prospects in the community & at networking events;
  • This position is responsible for marketing risks to insurance company underwriters;
  • Pursue a program of personal and professional development;
  • Fully versed in peer to peer selling;
  • Experience in Life and/or benefit insurance sectors would be an asset
  • Performing other related duties as assigned to deliver business results and distinctive client value.

 

Key Management functions Include:

  • Coordinating and providing oversight to the Commercial Lines Team and establishing client service plans that prioritize the account activities and profitability in a value-based approach for the scope of services required;
  • Enforce consequences for non-performance;
  • Be responsible for the completeness of information of all CL team members;
  • Work with the HR to recruit and hire the best and brightest producers;
  • Be a mentor on CI’s, Marketing, Closing and Education;
  • Ensure proper behaviours are in place in order to mitigate E & O exposure;
  • Stay abreast of CI’s and results of all members of the team while extinguishing rebukes and excuses a/o barriers to success;
  • Be the voice of CL growth encompassing sales and retention;
  • Able to fully participate on an executive level;
  • Strongly advocate for the CL team within the EMT meetings ensuring the team has everything they need to perform at the highest possible level;
  • Maintain the team member’s focus on the department’s & company vision;
  • Onboarding and training of new staff;
  • Lead development of new recruits through to Sales Mastery in conjunction with CSO & Incite Performance Group;
  • Able to bring value and fully participate on an executive level;
  • Run regular pipeline, On-time, and check-in meetings according to Cornerstone’s established communication strategy;
  • Manage the Commercial Lines Department Culture within Cornerstone Insurance’s Culture, keep the team culture aligned with Cornerstone’s existing culture & vision;
  • Advocate of change & constant and perpetual improvement;
  • Stays abreast of industry evolution and trends;
  • Presentation skills;
  • Growth goal advocate.
