CURIE (the Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange) delivers cost-effective property and liability insurance and risk management services to its owners: Canadian post-secondary institutions in nine provinces across the country. Our post-secondary institutions are vital drivers of research and innovation across our country, developing knowledge and building partnerships that enhance the communities in which we all live. With overall responsibility for CURIE’s large and complex multi-billion-dollar portfolio, the CEO will write the next chapter of a 30-year success story, working closely with an astute Advisory Board, providing invaluable advantages and support to members, and delivering visionary leadership.
Strategic as well as hands-on, you are a leader who is ready to make an impact in a values-driven organization. With impressive insurance and risk management leadership experience with large and complex insurance programs, ideally in a reciprocal or mutual insurer, you understand underwriting, claims, loss control, P&L management, business analysis, finance, and multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance. A consultative relationship-builder who is able to work with multiple clients and stakeholders with different needs, you will deepen the foundation of communication and trust that already underpins the effective business relationships CURIE has with members, suppliers, and high-profile domestic and international insurers and reinsurers.
Your leadership will support CURIE members in continuing to provide transformative experiences for students, and innovative research that fuels our economies and uplifts our communities. You will lead the development and implementation of strategic plans that strengthen CURIE’s ability to assist its members in addressing existing and emerging risks. Coaching a dedicated team and engaging your breadth of experience, you will anticipate new insurance needs, welcome new members, leverage technologies, and help secure the future of some of Canada’s finest public institutions.
