Full-Time Business System Analyst

Position Summary

Reporting to the VP of Information Technology, the Business System Analyst will be responsible for partnering with key stakeholders to ensure that appropriate processes are embedded into the Operation. The Business System Analyst can make everyone more productive by creating custom workflows, validation rules, mapping, modeling, designing and more. The role will require the individual to be the first person to be contacted for changes and new features to applications.

The role will assess the requirement and work with the VP with implementations and changes for existing and new design patterns. Architecture, best practices, sustainability and design will form part of a constant discussion with the IT team.

Primary Duties:

  • Apply quality principles and practices to establish a strategic approach and to improve the organization’s operations and productivity. This includes handling processes to support the organization’s strategic direction and communicating, facilitating and supporting necessary changes for continuous improvement
  • Responding to internal and third-party stakeholder’s questions, concerns or challenges.
  • Resolving product or service problems and client’s needs and challenges as required. This includes clarifying the need, determining cause, selecting and explaining the best solution, making recommendations, and following-up to ensure resolution
  • Responsible for communication – including communicating existing processes, updated processes, and coordinating activities between key stakeholders including Marketing, Operations, IT, and Third-Party vendors.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to elicit requirements and effectively plan for, manage and communicate requirements and applicable system designs
  • Analyzing complex business problems and working with Product Owners and vendor teams to assess how systems and business processes can be implemented
  • Modeling and documenting project requirements, including workflow, user interface, data models, system designs, and quality assurance
  • Developing test strategies and test plans for the execution of test plans in conjunction with business units, QA Lead, and the Project Manager
  • Conducting research and providing advice to other team members regarding the selection, application and implementation of business systems and management tools
  • Model systems and data to a logical level, user interface design, and prototyping, decision tables/trees, data flows
  • Lead design sessions in documenting and designing new systems/enhancements to enhance business processes, operations, and information flow
  • Writing unambiguous, verified requirements to a testable level (functional and non-functional requirements)
  • Coordinate work with our offsite teams and be prepared to communicate with them outside of business hours
  • Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Relevant P&C Insurance
  • Ability to take ownership, accountability and initiative in fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong relationship and customer service skills
  • Excellent technical design, modeling, and documentation skills
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of risk management and enterprise risk strategy and practices, quality assurance practices and user testing
  • A university degree, college diploma or certification in a related field with advanced knowledge of best practices employed by the IIBA and BABOK
  • Experience with data mapping, particularly with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and CSIO requirements
  • Five years’ experience in process design and information technology business solutions
  • Five years’ experience in leading system design sessions and workshops, focused on effectively translating business requirements into development-ready documentation.
  • High level of organizational ability with project management experience being an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to use innovative and effective methods to analyze data and produce business solutions that meet process requirements
  • Ability to write business requirements that translate to Agile user stories
  • Familiarity with reading and understanding Java, CSS/HTML, NoSQL code in order to effectively design valuable business solutions
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of technology system interfaces and data integration; networks, operating systems
