Full-Time Associate Insurance Advisor 1
Job Description
Position Title: Associate Insurance Advisor 1.
Company: David Myra Agency | The Co-operators.
Location: Barrhaven, Ottawa
The Associate Insurance Advisor 1 is a key player in the support and development of our local, well established insurance agency, primarily through sales and service of The Co-operators personal lines products (Auto and Home), and provide support for additional product lines.
Responsibilities:
- Sales, service and profitable growth of personal lines insurance products.
- Advise and recommend coverages and policies that best meet the client’s needs.
- Prospect/Cross-sell by identifying and recommending additional products/services to benefit the client.
- Complete front-line risk assessment and selection (following Underwriting Guidelines).
- Identify which risks require inspections. May also be required to do inspections.
- Achieve individual and team goals for new sales, client service, quality and productivity.
- Respond to client questions and concerns, resolve customer complaints, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Strict confidentiality with respect to client’s financial status and other personal information.
What to Expect:
- You may be required to have your own vehicle, valid driver’s license and insurance.
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Consumer History background checks.
- A Personal Profile (suitability) Test must be written, showing suitable indicators for success in this career.
- A General Insurance License (OTL) must be obtained “prior” to being hired.

- You must be a “self-starter” and be able to manage your time effectively.
- You must enjoy working directly with clients, in a Sales and Service office-based work environment.
- You must be committed to continuing education courses, for personal and professional improvement, and to meet all Provincial Licensing requirements, on an ongoing basis.
- You must enjoy setting and achieving personal and team goals.
- You must be an effective team player, and display good communication skills.
- You must be comfortable in a technology-dependent environment (Microsoft Office experience an asset).
Other:
- Knowledge of Auto and Property Insurance products, and previous direct sales experience is an asset.
