Join our newly established flood insurance development team. In this role, you will provide strategic advice on the development of a new national flood insurance program, provide support for fundamental decisions that will shape project work plans. You will also provide expert advice and program guidance to support the implementation of this new program and its ongoing delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of client-focussed strategies, policies, work streams and risk management protocols within CMHC.
- Provide authoritative and tactical advice, guidance and support to staff within the program and to senior management and government officials on flood insurance policy matters.
- Lead internal groups, along with working groups with Government departments, non-government organizations, and expert consultants to develop and deliver on work plans.
- Develop project work plans and priorities and conduct or manage projects.
- Provide subject-matter expertise and work with divisional policy managers and analysts internally and externally to ensure integration of affordability, adequacy and availability of flood insurance within broader policy development context.
- Follow up with stakeholders to establish long-term relationships, pose questions and consult on a regular basis to keep informed of new developments with stakeholders; field complex questions that require innovative responses and solutions related to financing.
- Build and maintain relationships with other CMHC sectors, think tanks, academics, federal strategic policy departments, and participate in relevant interdepartmental committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated policy, program development, and program delivery knowledge and experience related to insuring perils related to natural catastrophes, such as overland flood.
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as finance, business, or administration.
- Minimum of seven years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in preparing reports, and developing and delivering presentations to achieve acceptance with Senior Executives.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles to communicate effectively to clients, partners, and decision makers.
- Demonstrated experience in program management and working in multidisciplinary project teams.
