POSITION OVERVIEW

Jones DesLauriers Insurance Management Inc., a Navacord company, is providing an opportunity for a professional analyst. Our company will provide valuable work experience in the area of Commercial (Business) Insurance where mathematical, statistical/actuarial knowledge will be applied.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Service

  • Deliver value through analytically sound projects and services
  • Communicate assumptions and results to other internal consultants
  • Communicate and interact with consultants in a problem-solving advisory capacity
  • Respect and maintain client confidentiality

Build Analytics Tools

  • Assist with the aggregation of internal and external data sources into cohesive, efficient data stores to be used for quantitative modeling
  • Responsible for assessing data and delivering insights from the data / analysis
  • Reading policies and interpretation of policy wordings
  • Utilize existing statistical mathematical models and work with the data compiled to determine financial projections, conduct cost-benefit analyses, or develop risk projections based on a variety of factors
  • Assist in the preparation of reports based on the results of the analyses
  • Assist with the research for new product design
  • Ensures appropriate peer review for all work product

Communication

  • Participates in effective oral communications with other team members on technical concepts and deliverables

Client development

  • Product innovation with client development in mind

Colleague development

  • Participates in team environment of continuous feedback and idea sharing concerning specific engagements and bigger picture issues on a technical standpoint

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years experience in an actuarial role an asset, preferably in an insurance setting
  • Analytical and Mathematical prowess required
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Access, VBA programming a plus)
  • Organization skills including data and task management
  • Fundamental communications (Oral and Written)
  • Creative Mindset
  • Capable of self-directed work
  • Actuarial exams or designation an asset but not mandatory
  • Relevant knowledge of P&C insurance products is an asset but not mandatory;
  • Dedicated work ethic and integrity;
  • Strong oral, written and communication skills.
