Every music artist wants to get their music out there for the world to hear, but that’s easier said than done. When an artist is just starting out, they need a record label that believes in their music and is willing to invest money in it to be seen and heard.

An excellent way for a new band or artist to get the attention of major record labels is to contact music managers. Music managers are very important people in the industry. They can open up new dimensions and more doors of opportunity for new artists. They are critical to the success of any band or singer.

1) Network and form relationships with people in the industry

Connections are everything in this business, so get out there and make your own! Get to know as many people in the music industry as possible and build relationships with them.

Ask fellow artists how they’ve managed to get in touch with music managers and what’s worked for them. Ask the other bands at your shows how they got their foot in the door. Talk to music producers and studio owners if you know any.

Go to a local music show every chance you get. It’s a great opportunity to meet new artists and chat with established ones. You never know there might also be a manager of a very successful band looking for new talent to add to their roster.

2) Attend music industry conventions

There are many annual conventions in the music industry. These conventions are full of people involved in the creation and sale of music, including promoters, booking agents, festival directors, talent bookers and publicists. Managers will also be looking for new talent to support at these events. Make it your goal to meet as many people as possible and introduce yourself properly so that they remember you if they hear great things about your band or see you play one day.

3) Search online

We live in an age where almost everything is online. All you have to do is type in “music management” and hundreds of search results will come up with contact information, websites and blogs. You can contact them via email with a press kit or send them a copy of your best tracks. Trending songs in Nigeria Make sure the music you send accurately represents who you are as an artist or band, so when they receive it, they know who you are and that you’re worth signing.

4) Use Spotify, LinkedIn and other social media platforms

Social media is a great tool for communicating with people, building your brand and letting people know you exist. It also gives you the opportunity to connect and interact with other musicians, music industry professionals and managers. You can join industry groups or create your own group and then promote your shows and new music.

5) Play live shows and festivals

Talent and music managers are always on the lookout for up-and-coming talent at live shows and music festivals. Live performances are a great place to showcase your talent. Ask the event promoter if you can play at their next show or about playing some undercards for more established singers and bands with managers.

6) Make yourself and your music visible

You can never just sit back and wait for opportunities to come your way. You have to always be on the lookout and actively look for ways to get you and your music noticed by people who might be interested in working with you.
