Full-Time JUNIOR LLOYDS UNDERWRITER OR ASSISTANT

Job Description

Our client is an award winning, multi-class, international underwriting group, delivering niche, specialist (re)insurance products to a broad distribution network. Employing underwriters with a proven track record in Europe, the Middle East, Canada, and the USA, they have seen unprecedented growth since starting in 2018, growth that is set to continue over the next 3 – 5 years.

In January 2022, our client’s syndicate was approved by Lloyd’s adding an insurance carrier to the existing MGA model.

Guided by market-leading practitioners and powered by A+ to AA++ capacity, our client revolutionised the MGA model by ensuring that they align with the interest of their stakeholders.

Due to their continued growth, they are now looking for a Business Assistant or Junior Lloyds Underwriter.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Ensure Lloyd’s Canada Lineage data entry is completed accurately and on time

• Manage risks through the policy cycle (New Business, Adjustments, Referrals, Renewals, claims etc.), ensuring that all work is allocated and completed in line with service level agreements, contract certainty and cover holder guidelines

• Ensure that tasks are carried out in a timely fashion and meet Companies’ Quality Standards

• Manage bound risk bordereaux and ensure that all bordereaux are issued to capacity partners in line with service level agreements

• Reporting for internal and external stakeholders, compiling and issuing ad hoc reports when required

• Constantly evaluate systems and processes for potential improvement

• Assist with maintaining and organizing cloud file system

• Coordinating and collaborating with other business units

• Represent the Canadian team at internal/external meetings and on internal/external committees as required

• Contribute to an inspiring team environment that enables Canada’s team to achieve its mid and long-term goals

• Promote innovation in the Canada team by challenging status quo and encouraging creative new ways to service clients

• Work closely with the claims team in assisting the claims process where needed

• Provide on the job training for members of the Canada team

• Other tasks to be decided

Skills

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

• Lineage entry for all lines of business (property, casualty, professional lines, and automobile)

• Good attention to detail

• Strong data analysis skills

• Good interpersonal and organizational skills

• A flexible approach

• Team spirit and high level of commitment

• Self-starter, able to operate with a high level of autonomy in a fast-paced start-up environment

• Problem solving approach with a focused, proactive and efficient work style

Knowledge

• Understanding of insurance policy wordings

• Ability to learn and use policy administration and pricing IT systems

• Advanced data analytics skills

• Detailed Knowledge of Lloyd’s Canada Lineage system for property, casualty, professional lines, and automobile

Experience

• 5 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry

• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience

• Experience of working with bordereaux

• In-depth working experience with Lineage
