Job Description

Responsibilities: Provide technical and underwriting administration support to the Transportation team.  Following Underwriter’s instructions, the Underwriting Assistant will process all GTS Transportation package policy transactions in PAXUS, issue policies & endorsements using MS Office templates, and process insurance filings.  In addition, the successful candidate will also be responsible to assist Underwriters with various underwriting tasks, liaise with Claims staff to confirm policy coverages and respond to other Claims inquiries, and assist Risk Solutions staff and Transportation brokers as required.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 2 years Commercial insurance experience (preference will be given to candidates with fleet and/or Transportation experience).
  • Completion of post-secondary education (University and /or college degree) is an asset
  • Completion of two Insurance Institute CIP courses Automobile – C14 & Automobile – C48 or equivalent, is preferred
  • Strong task management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Inquisitive and eager to learn
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of PAXUS or similar AS400 mainframe system is a definite asset
