We are currently looking for a Underwriter. This role is located in Mississauga, ON. Reporting directly to the GFH National Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for assistance in the underwriting of classes of insurance handled by GFH.

Responsibilities:

The scope includes all GFH insurance products, which will include assistance individual risk underwriting, (risk selection, assessment, pricing, negotiating terms and conditions, issuance, administration and case handling) for various policies covering new and existing accounts and liabilities as well as risks arising during the year.
Specific Duties include (but not limited to):
• Coordination of all data collection associated with Account Submissions received from Brokers
– Gathering of all pertinent submission or renewal information for Underwriting Analysis
– Prepare Insurance Proposals with Supporting Documentation.
– Completion of Account processing documentation in all databases for Bind Orders.
– Completing preliminary rating for new business and renewals.
– Manage tasks associated with Written New and Renewal Business Accounts, including Policy Delivery, Endorsement Processing, Premium Transaction Billing, Data entry documentation using the Policy Management and Content Management systems.
– Correspond directly with Brokers on their submissions and written accounts as the liaison for GFH Underwriting.
– Adhere to all Company Guidelines and Insurance regulations.
• Ensure that all workflows, procedures, departmental manuals and standards are being adhered too.
• Assist with on-going Research & Development.

Your skills and experience

• 1 / 2 Years Commercial / Marine Underwriting experience within an MGA or insurance company or a brokerage.
• Experience within the Cargo / freight forwarding / logistics industry a strong asset.
• Strong  Business Acumen
• Microsoft office product expertise and familiarity with Broker Management systems / CRM systems
• University or College Degree preferred
• Working towards their CIP/ FCIP or CRM Designation
• Some travel may be required.
