Full-Time Senior Underwriter, Contract Surety

Job Description

Job Summary: The Contract Surety Underwriter is responsible for managing a portfolio of client accounts. He/she will manage relationships with clients and their brokers, be responsible for business development and retention, analyze financial statements and supporting documents such as work on hand reports, aged account receivable and payable lists, bank and credit reports for the purpose of recommending surety bond facilities for new and existing contractors and will prepare comprehensive reports for management to review. The successful candidate will maintain business relationships with brokers and clients and participate in industry events.

Qualifications:     

  • University Degree, preferably in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
  • 5-10 years of surety underwriting experience or a working knowledge of financial statements and/or credit and/or construction experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly developed analytical and judgment skills required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Strong decision-making ability
