What does a Senior Advisor – Regulatory Compliance do at Western?

Reporting to the President, Senior Advisor – Regulatory Compliance is part of Western’s sister company, Western Life and is key to the success of our business.  All our employees have a direct influence on our brand in the communities they serve, through the excellent service and support they provide.

The success of you and your team stems from your ability to lead the development, delivery and reporting on compliance policies, programs, training and controls in support of the companies objectives.  You have the opportunity to be part of a collaborative and motivated team who all contribute to the achievement of business goals and targets.

  • Develop and lead a high performing team who continually assess compliance needs and provide solutions
  • Lead the development and implementationof compliance policies, programs and procedures
  • Oversee, and participate in, investigations and audits, as required; including communicating with regulatory bodies
  • Conduct reviews and analysis of the business to mitigate compliance risks and make recommendations
  • Pro-actively monitor the legal and regulatory environment to stay informed of developments that could impact the business
  • Oversee the customer complaints program, providing reports and recommendations to the President
  • Manage the privacy incident responses and access to information requests
  • Collaborate with business leaders and compliance team to ensure departmental priorities and objectives align with corporate direction

What we are looking for:

Being successful in this role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, problem solve and contribute to a positive work environment by encompassing our Guiding Principles.

  • Bilingual (French and English) is essential
  • Paralegal license (Ontario or other applicable jurisdiction) is an asset
  • ACS, ALMI or FLMI; or Barrister & Solicitor designation an asset
  • Prior supervisory experience in a compliance role
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proven ability to build relationships with client

  • Winnipeg, MB
  • Full Time – 37.5 hours/week
  • Monday – Friday
