JOB DESCRIPTION

The Actuarial Advisor represents the actuarial sector to working on corporate level multi-disciplinary projects and carries out rate making reviews mandates, proposes solutions and supports implementation when required

Represent Actuarial Services in multi-disciplinary projects within the organization to ensure the execution of these projects

Manage complex mandates requiring superior problem solving analysis for insurance business opportunities and prosing appropriate solutions.  Present to management and support implementation.

Carries out complex rate making analysis and product reviews using existing models, proposes appropriate changes and implements them.

Performs monitoring activities with a view to assess the quality of our insurance portfolio and follows the rates, market share and insurance results of our competitors.

Carries out analysis required as part of actuarial projects (risk sharing pool, modelling, pricing, etc.) or joint projects with other business units, marketing, and business development.  Follows up on gaps between actual versus forecast results, when required.

Carries out complex analysis concerning insurance issues, proposes appropriate solutions and supports their implementation when required (i.e. pertaining to marketing problems/opportunities, product distribution, settlement of claims or other business decisions).

Enhances the production of basic statistical productions as required, for various tracking activities.

Prepares and communicates with regulators to obtain approval for the proposed rating changes.

Coaches the less experienced actuarial professionals.

Develops predictive statistical models.

Interpret the statistical model results and advise the internal clients (actuaries, technical analysts, claims and sales departments) on how to use the results impacting business processes.

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Post-secondary education (University degree) in Actuarial Science or equivalent.

Completion of a minimum of 5 Actuarial Society is exams required or Fellowship is an asset.

The candidate has 5 – 7 years of Actuarial experience.

Proficiency with general insurance products and business processes.

Proficient with SAS or other programming language and database structures, so to extract, or request the relevant data for analysis purposes.

Proficient with statistical concepts such as GLM is a strong asset.

Proficient with computer systems (i.e.: MS Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, etc).
