Full-Time Finance Decision Reporting Analyst

Job Description

Location: Flexible. The successful candidate may be located in any Sovereign office. Calgary is the preferred location.

The Sovereign General Insurance Company is looking for a creative, yet logical Finance Decision Reporting Analyst to join our Finance Decision Support team in Calgary. Utilizing your keen eye for detail and data sets, you will be responsible for supporting quality assurance and data management within the team. You will provide analytical support for both the database software and user interface, as well as support decision making by business units through the use of reporting and data analysis. Finally, you will be adept at communicating information to end users and providing in-depth training and support.

Your Impact:

  • Provide consultative support when presented with a business issue by providing an overview of the information available, reviewing data needs, and determine the most effective way to present the information to the business user.
  • Provide data support to complex financial processes, such as:

 

    • Expenses, Incurred But Not Reported losses (IBNR), Reinsurance and other allocations.
    • Other financial and operational project work.
  • Develop custom reports based on business requirements.
  • Train users on reporting, including how to analyze and interpret data.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal business units and external contacts.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars and training sessions as required.
  • Lead special projects and participate on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Maintain records, files and other documentation as required.
  • Support business continuity program.

 

Your Expertise:

  • Post-Secondary education in a related discipline.
  • Accounting/Finance and/or MicroStrategy background is an asset
  • Experience in the insurance industry is an asset.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills, emphasis on Excel.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with databases.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
