Salary up to $116,465.77 annually The Business Risk Management Branch (BRMB) provides agricultural risk management services to help farmers and farm organizations proactively manage uncertainty through production insurance, income stabilization and wildlife damage compensation programs. These programs are funded through the Growing Forward multi-lateral framework Agreement between the provinces and Canada
The Executive Director takes the lead strategic role for the Ministry in all matters related to agricultural risk management policies and programs including the development of a risk management framework and ensuring a risk perspective is provided on Ministry plans and programs. The position anticipates the need for risk assessments and is involved in providing strategic advice in this regard for specific industries sectors and industry groups. The Executive Director also ensures that the Ministry’s financial and budget risks are managed through the use of reinsurance and any other mechanisms available to ensure sound management and successful performance of programs.
Qualifications for this role include: Completion of a related post-secondary degree (business or public administration; economics or agricultural economics; risk management/insurance) plus four years related current and progressive management experience; an equivalent combination of experience, education and training may be considered; minimum of 6 years’ experience in management of financial resources, projects, and multi-disciplinary professional and technical staff; experience negotiating solutions and partnerships with stakeholders.
