Full-Time Engineering Underwriter/Risk Casualty
Job Description
Our downtown Toronto client is currently looking for an Engineering underwriter.
You will have the following:
BA of Science in technical discipline: Chemical, Process, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, 10+ yrs exp. technical proficiency in P&C, Property and Health and Safety/Casualty products: General Liability, Umbrella, Excess, Auto, Environmental, and P&C Package. Analytical, organizational, time management & decision making skills, exceptional and proven leadership skills, ability to set direction/manage an organization with a matrix structure. Manage team, risk engineering support/solutions, team contributes to profitability, growth and operational efficiency objectives through engineering appraisals, surveys and risk reviews, Develop/maintain risk engineering guidelines/best practices with consultation from regional/global risk engineering staff.
Review/develop structure, workflow and processes for optimum productivity/efficiency, coordination/ communication within team and best impact all business results, employee development: planning, coaching, mentoring, training, and facilitation of cross-training. Desk/site reviews, Prepare reports for Underwriting to ensure informed decisions are made on merits/ exposures of risks, Collaborate with Claims to understand circumstances of loss, to assist claims personnel to understand technical issues of losses; instructing/ directing/ interpreting loss adjuster’s reports, Prepare/deliver training programs for key Casualty trends. Partner with underwriting to develop greater understanding of risks and profitability for new business, Identifying good/poor risks on an individual basis, Identifying potential positive/negative trends exposures, Building underwriters/ Vendor selection, contract negotiation, implementation/management, Develop/maintain regional risk engineering guidelines and best practices, Participate communicate, and contribute to the initiatives of the global third-party risk engineering team, Utilize the Risk Engineering Work Bench and other analytical tools to provide statistical support for risk engineering impact and objectives, communication with Underwriting, Actuarial/Claims, develop/maintain relationships with brokers/clients/Deliver/improve the risk engineering product. Responsible, in conjunction with senior regional and global Casualty personnel.
