Full-Time Director, Insurance Sales

Job Description

The Director, Insurance Sales is responsible in conjunction with the Sr. Director for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives for Insurance Services with a focus on building on and expanding the Company markets, products and capabilities.  Using customer experience management to drive results, the Insurance Sales Director will leverage the Company Insurance brand strength and their own insurance expertise to direct sales activities in delivering a differentiated client experience of engaging, educating, listening, advising and helping members take action to protect their assets, their lifestyle and their business; and supporting the consistent implementation of department and organizational initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Provide direction in the forecasting, planning, and execution of Insurance Services  sales strategies and programs to ensure short and long term goals are met or exceeded; promote product and service awareness and brand value; continually enhance the customer experience; monitor and report on customer preferences and insurance industry competitive trends and products; identify opportunities to broaden and strengthen products as well as distribution of products; participate in development of product enhancements or additions to portfolio; contribute to development of marketing collateral; manage budgets to support sales initiatives and activities; participate as a member of the Insurance Services management team to coordinate activities with other functions and internal stakeholders to accomplish department objectives; monitor accuracy and efficient distribution of sales reports and other intelligence essential to the department;

• Plan and direct staff activities, including hiring, performance evaluation and coaching; coordinate training delivery to sales, sales management and sales support personnel to ensure a high level of insurance product knowledge, compliance, sales best practices and expert physician specific insurance advice; be responsible for sales process optimization; direct and coordinate assignment of sales activities and recordkeeping to ensure equitable and optimal allocation to all sales channels and resources; monitor and maintain high levels of quality, accuracy and process consistency, facilitating an organization of continuous process improvement; monitor compliance with all industry and government regulations and contractual obligations; provide input in development and administration of sales incentive compensation programs;

• Direct the customer experience management for sales and service; build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including other key management personnel, insurance companies and strategic partners;  identify and seize collaborative opportunities to enrich the relationship and provide additional value to members; resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service; mentor Advisor team in customer resolution; proactively identify opportunities for sales process improvements;

• Implement enabling technologies (e.g. CEM) with Advisor teams; monitor team’s compliance with required standards for maintaining data; collaborate with management team and internal stakeholders to optimize effectiveness of Advisor team’s technology investments.

Education:

University degree in Business Administration; formal education in the practices and principles of life and disability insurance, usually acquired by completing the Chartered Life Underwriter program or Certified Financial Planner designation; Licensed to sell life and health insurance in Ontario; Life and health insurance licence in the Atlantic Provinces, an asset; Property and casualty insurance licence and/or risk management designation, an asset.

Experience:

10 years insurance experience in a branch or broker environment including developing and executing sales programs, and 5 years managing agents.  Thorough knowledge of Individual and Group life and disability insurance, and of acceptable insurance practices.

• Collaborating with marketing in developing resources and products

• Coordinating training delivery to sales personnel

• Customer experience management, monitoring compliance with standards and continuous process improvement

• Implementing enabling technologies

• Strong preference for experience in affinity group programs

• 2 or more years’ experience in property and casualty insurance environment, an asset
