Full-Time Commercial Underwriter
Job Description
Our Client a Global Insurance company with an office in Toronto is looking for an intermediate underwriter to join their growing firm. This is a 2 year contract which more than likely will go permanent full-time.

Responsibilities:
As an Underwriter within the team the individual would have underwriting responsibility for a portfolio of Canadian MGA’s across various lines of business
Monthly monitoring of the performance of the agents through analysis of KPIs and
Management Information
Bring any issues to the attention of the Head of Branch and recommend the appropriate course of action to address
Work with Home Office Reinsurance Team to ensure adequate reinsurance protection is in place for each of assigned MGAs.
Assist Head of Branch with Quarterly Branch Underwriting Report and with Business Board presentation
Coordinate and chairing of all regular and exceptional meetings with or in relation to assigned MGA’s
Conduct at least annual underwriting file audits of assigned MGA business
Coordinate annual operational audits of assigned MGAs
Handle one off special acceptance requests from agents. Provide technical guidance to MGA underwriters.
Develop and update underwriting authorities for MGAs
Identification and evaluation of new opportunities in accordance with established take on process and Branch risk appetite
Monitoring activities of Managing General Agents (MGA) in accordance with established control framework
Work closely with Claims Manager in reviewing all large losses from assigned MGA portfolio
Work with Underwriting Assistant on matters related to reporting and compliance
Qualifications:
2-5 years experience, specialty lines E&O, builders risk, enviornmental, Wrap up liability, D&O
Ability to work independently, strong mult-task ability, strong written and verbal communication skills
Flexible, ability to face pressure, strong problem solving skills
CIP, CRM
