Position Overview
Working with the Global Specialty Lines division and within the Specialty Property Team situated in downtown Toronto, you will devote your technical skills, business savvy and track record of success to underwriting, marketing and promoting our Global Special Risk Managed property product offerings. Our key customers and clients, Canada’s Fortune-1000 companies, and Canada’s top 300 private organizations will rely on your experience and strong customer focus to provide them with sound advice and exceptional service. Your expertise in areas of underwriting, risk analysis and strategic thinking will help you recognize and capitalize on our target market opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Property underwriting of Risk Managed Accounts
- Negotiating terms and conditions with brokers for new and renewal commercial property insurance policies.
- Be accountable for all aspects of the business including profitability, renewal retention, new business production, expense management and customer service including management of specialized account service plans.
- Follow the underwriting philosophy of the organization.
- Adhere to the administrative, underwriting guidelines and processes of the Specialty Property team within Global Special Risk.Experience
- 5 to 10 years of commercial property underwriting experience with some exposure to underwriting and servicing global exposures on manufacturing and other more complex risks.
- Included in above it is important to have 2 to5 years experience working with National or large commercial brokers.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of property policy forms and wordings.
- Ability to compare and evaluate coverage provided in manuscript property wordings versus what is provided through company forms
- Insurance Market knowledge
- Strong marketing and relationship building skills
Experience using facultative markets - Experience with and comfort in negotiating with national brokers
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) - Ability to work well within a team
- Knowledge and ability to work efficiently with personal computers using Windows-based PC software applications including Word, Excel, Lotus Notes and the Internet.
- University degree in business, math, science or engineering
- CIP, FCIP and or CRM designations an asset
- If not completed already, must be willing to complete the CRM certificate diploma.
