Position Summary
This position assists the Claims function in meeting its business objectives by providing administrative support, entering claims data into a variety of claims technologies and the development and production of statistical information and reports.  The candidate must have a good understanding of the insurance industry, including property and casualty insurance coverages, claims procedures and insurance data.  A good understanding of Excel, MS Office and performance management software is required.

Responsibilities
Assists in the efficient and effective workings of the day-to-day Claims operations within pre-established policies and protocols by the following:

Monitors incoming claims, promptly assigns to Claims Representative, confirms coverage and reinsurance with Underwriting and opens claims in the Claims IT systems.
Processes payments and reserves accurately and promptly as directed by the National Claims Manager and during peak claim notifications.
Prepares loss bordereaus for specific customers
Prepares monthly and ad-hoc claims reports as required to effectively manage claims as a financial portfolio, including analysis of:
–  leading/lagging indicators
–  leakage
–  technical claims audits (internal/external)
–  individual and team performance
Updates claims policies and procedures as directed by Head Office.
Fields customer inquiries and concerns with superior customer service,  practical thinking, and a sense of urgency
Prepares correspondence, reports, and presentations
Ad hoc research and project work

Qualifications

·         University degree or college diploma

·         5+ years of insurance industry experience

·         Excellent communications skills with an emphasis on customer service

·         Proficiency with computer systems and data entry, Claims-related technologies, and software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·         Strong interpersonal and administrative skills, with an ability to determine priorities

·         Ability to handle sensitive information and data confidentially and within established procedures and guidelines

·         Superb time management and organizational skills, and an ability to focus on many projects and tasks at the same time

·         Must work independently and as part of a team
