Full-Time Casualty Manager
Job Description
We are currently looking to a recruit a Casualty Manager, Commercial Lines based in Downtown Toronto that will be a key member in supporting our client’s growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary objective is to support all of commercial operations from a Casualty perspective, leading to achievement of our growth and profitability goals
- Respond to and responsibility for technical referrals from underwriting staff on accounts that exceed their level of authority or expertise
- Responsible for training, coaching and mentoring of employees on accounts that represent complex Casualty exposures
- Liaise with Technical Managers and provide assistance and input on technical projects
- Conduct supervisory audits on commercial casualty business
- Evaluate the quality of potential portfolio transfers or large accounts
- Using strong relationships with commercial brokers, develop a book of business that is in line with the commercial departments targeted approach
- Responsible for personally underwriting and/or participation in the writing of large accounts
- Other duties/assistance as requested by Chief Underwriting Officer
- REQUIREMENTS
- University degree, College Diploma or CIP/FCIP designation
- Minimum 10 years experience underwriting large and/or high hazard Casualty accounts
- Solid knowledge of reinsurance with an awareness of current market conditions and trends
- Computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Detail oriented, analytical and organized
- Solid presentation skills
- Solid mentoring skills
