Business Development Manager
Bertie and Clinton Mutual Insurance Company (BCM) is seeking a Business Development Manager. BCM is a policyholder owned, growth oriented property and casualty insurer serving the Niagara Region since 1880. Through personalized, local service it offers quality insurance products for home, farm, automobile and commercial through experienced insurance professionals and dedicated agents. Reporting to the CEO, the BDM is responsible for providing strong sales management and being an effective collaborator within the management team.
Job Description
- Part of the Management Team overseeing sales and marketing of the organization.
- Supporting the company profit and growth objectives by coaching and supervising the sales activities of our agents
- Working collaboratively with the Underwriting and Finance manager to meet company goals and guidelines
Qualifications
- Possess considerable knowledge of the sales process and have a successful track record in sales in P&C Insurance
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in personal and commercial lines underwriting
- Management experience in a supervisory capacity of at least 5 years
- Excellent analytical, organizational and negotiating skills are essential
- Will possess exemplary leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in marketing and advertising would be considered an asset
- Preference for those candidates with a FCIP/CIP designation and/or university degree with a relevant discipline
Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate agents in territory for fit and strategic growth opportunities
- Regularly communicate with agents and underwriters on product information or changes to existing products.
- Identify new opportunities for growth as well as retaining active agent/client relationships
- Integrate appropriate agent feedback into operational recommendations
- Manage existing policy count and premium volume by growing the business to achieve agreed upon targets
- Conduct reviews with the internal team and agents and make recommendations where appropriate
- Assist in the development of marketing campaigns and their results
- Track & evaluate new or existing market opportunities to determine ranking.
- Compile competitor information and underwriting standards to compare product/pricing differences
- Prepare business cases to introduce product enhancements
- Assist in organizing and attend local promotional events in the community
