ACCOUNTANT – INSURANCE BROKERAGE

Duties:

Reconciliation of client accounts
Reconcile insurance carrier accounts and follow up on discrepancies
Reconcile payment of general vendor accounts
Review, update and reconcile day to day accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting
Complete monthly spreadsheet analysis for all balance sheet accounts
Prepare and Post non-standard journal entries on a monthly basis
Submit financial data to the Chartered Accounts at year-end with all necessary back-up documents and schedules
Assist in invoicing of policies which is governed by special arrangements with Insurance Companies
Payroll

Qualifications:

University Degree or College Diploma with an Accounting focus or equivalent education and experience
3-5 years progressive experience
Knowledge and experience of accounting processes
Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
Attention to detail; focused and have a high degree of data entry accuracy
Deadline oriented; strong ability to multi-task
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
Strong leadership skills
Exposure to P&C insurance required. Either with an Insurance Company or Insurance Broker
Previous experience with Power Broker a definite asset
