The Mid-Size Construction unit has an opportunity for an Underwriter working in Toronto.
PRIMARY DUTIES: 1. Analyze and assess the property/casualty portion of contracting risks. 2. Analyze and assess property/casualty risks to provide coverage that meets the customer’s needs and achieves account profitability. 3. Negotiate terms and conditions and calculate the premiums appropriate to the risk. 4. Review and negotiate renewals and midterm changes with brokers as required. 5. Analyze data including Risk Services Reports and Claims activity information.
SECONDARY DUTIES: 1. Collaborate with auto/fleet senior underwriter to analyze and assess risks to accept, reject or modify accounts. 2. Assist in the resolution of account differences. 3. Meet with customers and brokers to promote and develop relationships. 4. As outlined in the Job Profile and miscellaneous duties that may be assigned. 5. Assist as technical product knowledge resource. 6. May provide peer training or mentoring.
Bachelors Degree Or Equivalent 2 Or More Years Of Related Experience An AIIC or CIP designation or active participation in the program is preferred
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 or more year's experience underwriting complex property and casualty accounts. The ideal account will have underwriting experience specific to the construction segment. Highly developed analytical, negotiation and communication skills are required, as is a commitment to providing exceptional customer service by maintaining our customer service value. Proven ability to work with large brokerage firms would be an asset.
