Management of all underwriting and processing functions within the program segment to ensure the underwriting quality and service standards aligned with Corporate, Regional and Branch objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Sets objectives for business segment, aligned to regional strategic objectives
Responsible for the development of specific broker plans and management of staff in order to execute broker plans by program includes regular internal and external meetings to drive and achieve business objectives
Mentors and coaches staff through regular one on one staff meetings and daily interaction
Management of program underwriting unit within a specific dedicated industry group the industry segments are niche and national in scope requiring a developed underwriting expertise Includes oversight of the underwriting decisions and program results
Responsible for the underwriting performance of the program segment unit including meeting business unit production and underwriting profit targets aligned with corporate standards and objectives Role includes the ongoing recruitment, development and training of staff.
Effectively develop staff through talent management process.
Drives to achieve the cultural change within the program segment unit towards a sales culture and solutions oriented environment Meets the branch targets in enhancing customer experience by providing service and actions that support s value proposition.
UNDERWRITING:
Supervises the underwriting practice within the program segment unit. Includes supervision of all underwriting staff.
Provides leadership direction including underwriting referrals that require corporate approval.
Establishes workflows that support broker and company objectives and monitors through monthly service report including weekly reports to Plans and Programs Manager
Works with underwriters by providing leadership on prospective programs, renewals and referrals.
Works collaboratively with the Specialists, Managers and RCM to provide prospective underwriting and pricing solutions to new programs and renewals.
Identifies value generating and value destroyer business segments and develops and executes action plans.
Manages the unit’s branch broker audits and self review process.
Reviews and updates efficiency procedures to optimize cost and expenses
Experience Required:
2-3 years supervisor experience.
6-8 years underwriting experience within specialized complex account capacity.
Strong relationship /team building skills
Strong communication skills.Strong coaching/mentoring skills.
